Humble and practical, Tyvek wristbands don’t get enough credit for being excellent multi-taskers. They are adaptable to all kinds of situations (even outside of events and music festivals), are long-lasting, and look good while getting the job done. That’s a lot for something that is near as light as air and looks a lot like paper!
Below are six unexpected uses (and one practical, although maybe less unusual) for paper wristbands and vinyl wristbands!
7 Examples of Tyvek Wristbands Went Above and Beyond
1. Contactless Entry + Ticket Alternative:
As you know, Tyvek wristbands are typically used for crowd control. However, did you know they can also take the place of event tickets? Due to the COVID pandemic, their use for contactless event admission has grown among event organizers. In addition to text and images, Tyvek wristbands can be printed with variable data QR codes. Upon check-in, staff can scan them on their mobile phones from a browser (if they’re using the Eventgroove platform).
Did you know? We print our DuPont Tyvek wristbands at our 100% wind-powered Montana facility using sustainable processes, and they’re recyclable! To recycle your DuPont custom Tyvek wristbands, put them in an envelope and send them to: CFS Recycling, 337 A Industrial Drive, Petersburg, VA 23803
2. Cast Your Vote:
Hosting a battle of the bands, talent show, BBQ, or baking competition? Stubbed paper wristbands are a great, low-tech way to enable attendees to participate in judging. Place a ballot box out for each competitor and invite guests to use their stubs to vote for their favorite.
Eventgroove customer Red Ants Pants Music Festival here in Montana uses our stubbed wristbands to engage the audience in choosing the best acts each year. “Our longtime fans love finding their new favorite bands on our side stage. Our Emerging Artist Competition is an interactive way for both fans and artists to be more involved in next year’s festival, plus earning a chance to play on the Main Stage at the Red Ants Pants Music Festival is an exciting opportunity that has helped elevate many bands in a positive way.” –Sarah Calhoun, Red Ants Pants Music Festival producer, and founder.
3. Luggage or Moving Tags:
Traveling with a team or school group? Get custom wristbands in a bright color (vinyl wristbands work particularly well here) printed with contact information to use as luggage tags. It’ll make finding and organizing the pile of luggage that much easier! Similarly, you can use wristbands to organize a move. Choose a wristband color per room, then attach a wristband of that color to the item you want to go in the corresponding room at the new house (don’t forget to give the moving crew a color key!). It’ll help make getting everything in the correct space a lot easier, which is a huge boon—we all know what it’s like to discover your dresser somehow in the basement!
4. Coupons + Sponsorships:
Custom wristbands can also double as an advertisement opportunity. In addition to adding the sponsor’s logo, you can make the entire wristband act as a coupon. For example, if a local restaurant is a sponsor, have your event wristbands printed with “bring this wristband in for a free dessert!”
5. Alumni Weekends:
At events like these, there are tons of people milling around. Between that and the passage of time, figuring out who is from your class can be tricky. Ease some of the awkwardness by ordering custom Tyvek wristbands in various colors printed with basic event details and your school’s logo and distributing them to the appropriate alumni.
Pro tip: If you want to make it even easier to recognize people at alumni events, order large VIP event badges printed with their high-school yearbook picture, name, and year!
6. Animal Tags:
Tyvek event wristbands are great for organizing people, but what about animals? If you didn’t already know, horses are regularly shipped all over the United States and around the world. An Eventgroove team member recently spotted a wristband on a newly-imported horse so that the air carrier and hauler knew for sure they were moving the correct horse to the right destination! (horse tax picture of Conrad below!).
7. Keep the Kids Together:
Whether on a field trip to the local amusement park, museum, or even camping overnight, organizing children is a top priority. Make it easier for teachers and staff to immediately identify kids and take a quick headcount by giving everyone a brightly colored custom wristband. Printed with your school’s information and logo, they’ll help keep everyone together and expedite a reunion if someone gets lost.
